My dining room

My dining room is beautiful

With ornaments on show

The Royal Doulton figurines

Arranged all in a row

Eight chairs positioned carefully

Two carvers at the ends

The polished table centre stage

Stands poised to feed our friends

My dining room is functional

With items now on show

The blackboards, coat racks, notice boards

Arranged all in a row

Eight mirrors grace two of the walls

There’s forty on the floor

The table’s laden down with lamps

We’ve coat hooks on the door

You can’t move in my dining room

For woodcraft everywhere

The sideboard’s hidden underneath

The sets of coasters there

My dining room is now a shop

Where people come to browse

I’m trying not to worry, but…

When is a house a house?
